In That order

I wanted to have my first post be about the balancing act of faith, family, and business. This is a good overview and a good starting point of you guys getting to know who I am and what I’m about. And honestly, if you want to work with me, if you want to work for me, if you are interested in doing anything like what I'm doing (or if you just want to be nosey, that's fine, too). If you just like reading faith based business blogs then I'm all for it. Also, if you are not a faith based person, I do not want this to scare you away. A lot of what I believe in and talk about, yes it comes from scripture. It comes from God, but it's also very much rooted in science. I did get my degree from the University of Georgia and I do believe in research, so I just want to throw that out there.

So this is the way I set my priorities: faith, family, business. That's the order. Literally it's in that order that I have my priorities and I like for my time to reflect my priorities. So if that's not something that you have going on right now for yourself (your time reflecting your priorities), I want you to take a second and go hour by hour for each day of the week. Now, I've done this for myself and I tend to live my life in time blocks like morning, afternoon, evening. Next, say what you're spending your time doing in that moment. If your time is not reflective of what you prioritize in life, think about how you can actually move things around. Sometimes you don't have the freedom to do that very much. Say you work an 9 to 5 job and you can't not work your job. That takes out 40 hours of your week or sometimes 50, 60, 70 hours depending on the job that you do. You might think of it as, “Okay, well I don't prioritize my job like that. I don't want to have it as my main priority, but I have to”. Look at it as funding your other priorities. You know it's funding the other things that you want to do, so think of it that way. Mindset shifts are EVERYTHING.

  1. QUIET TIME

Everyday I wake up early to spend some time with God. It helps me to start my day off on a positive note. I usually get some sort of direction or feedback for my day. Some days I wake up as early as 5:30a and others I wake up around 6:30a, it all depends on how I am choosing to connect with God that day.
